Wire rope glowing in the Papuan New Guinean Jungle

JungleHow do you ensure that your wire rope slings are bright enough to be seen while they lift drilling equipment by helicopter out of the Papuan New Guinea jungle?

The challenge was that the helicopter pilots needed to see the wire rope lifting the equipment — and manoeuvre it so it didn’t get tangled in the massive trees and foliage typical of a tropical jungle.

HMH solution was to source some strong — and bright (not quite neon pink) hose pipe, and slide the wire rope through it.

Byron and Jaye found some robust and pretty sexy yellow hose pipe — and BINGO — the wire strops were covered with not only an easy to see covering, it was suitably strong to survive the rigours of heavy lifting in the wild jungle.
